Naarden Vesting
Naarden-Vesting is the oldest fortified city in the Gooi and one of the best-preserved cultural monuments in the country. If you would like to find out more about its turbulent history, a visit to the Dutch Fortress Museum is essential. However, there is a lot more to this picturesque little city!
The imposing Great or Saint Vitus Church is known, among other things, for its unique ceiling frescos. The remarkably well-preserved city hall dates back to 1601 and is a typical example of Dutch Renaissance architecture. The Burgerweeshuis (civilian orphanage) is also well worth a visit.
